Lucie M. Walker of Old Route 209, Hurley died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Memorial Sloane-Kettering Hospital. She was 53.

Lucie was born in Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Louise Deschenes Merette and the late Andre Merette. She moved to this country in 1961 and settled in Kingston. On April 23, 1983 she married Charles "Bud" Walker.

She graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language. For over 15 years she worked for Barbara Lee Travel in Rhinebeck. She most recently worked in the Motor Clothes Division at Woodstock Harley Davidson.

Lucie has lived in Hurley since 1986. She served on the Board at the Hurley Recreation Assoc. and volunteered with numerous civic organizations.

She served on the Board as Secretary to the Hurley Heritage Society. She was active in the Hurley Nursery School and was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Boynton Beach, FL and Kamouraska, Quebec, are her husband Charles H. "Bud" Walker; one daughter Larissa Anne Walker at home; one son Charles Jesse "CJ" Walker at home.

Family and friends will gather at St. Joseph's Hurley Mission, Zandhoeck Rd., Hurley, NY 12443 on Saturday at 1:00 for a Funeral Mass celebrated by Fr. Frank Damis. Interment will follow in Mt. Marion Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours or procession from the funeral home. Everyone is welcomed to the Saturday Funeral Mass and interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Boy Scouts Of America Rip Van Winkle Council" 75 Pine Street Kingston, NY 12401-4937; Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Rd., Kingston, NY 12401-1237; or First Congregational Church, 333 Main St., Saugerties, NY 12477-1330.
