Michael Smyth of Flatbush Road, Town of Ulster died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. He was 51.
He was born in Niskayuna, a son of the late Harold and Ruth Davis Smyth. In 1961 he moved to Buena Park, CA, where he lived until 1999. Michael returned to this area and was active at Greene County ARC Catskill's workshop. He also played basketball in the Special Olympics in Albany.
He has been lovingly cared for at Ulster - Greene ARC's Palmer Center for 19 years. He attended Day Program while at Palmer.
One brother William Smyth and one sister Joan Chilcott both died previously.
Surviving are his sister, Eileen Kronsberg of Leeds, one sister in law Hazel Smyth of Brea, CA; nieces and nephews Karen Russell, Kurt Kronsberg, Chris and Jennifer Smyth; great nieces Amy DeCicco, Sarah DeCicco and Kayla Kronsberg; and many dear friends at Ulster - Greene ARC.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted for Michael at 3:30 on Thursday.
Entombment will be in Memory Garden Memorial Park, Brea, California.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Ulster - Greene ARC Foundation" (for Palmer Center,) 471 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401.
